More bad news for bankers as new rounds of layoffs are apparently underway at HSBC Holdings plc (NYSE:HSBC) and several other banks.
- HSBC has laid off 100 private bankers in Hong Kong as demand for their services has shrunk
amid the economic downturn, according to The Economic Times.
- CVB Financial Corp., parent company of Citizen's
Business Bank, is gearing up to close down a branch in Pasadena, Calif.,
which employs nine people, according to SVGTribune.com. Those people will be transferred to another branch.
- Downey Savings & Loan, which was
taken over by U.S. Bank in November after the FDIC seized it, is going to start laying off employees in May and June, according to the OC Register.
