Imagem bags Rodgers & Hammerstein

Posted on April 22, 2009 10:45 AM
With the announcement Tuesday that it has bought the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization, Netherlands-based Imagem Music Group has in little more than a year catapulted itself into the ranks of major music publishers purely through acquisitions. This most recent purchase gives Imagem ownership of the storied catalog of composers Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, as well rights to a major chunk of the Great American Songbook.

Imagem and the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization wouldn't disclose the price tag. Industry insiders had suggested in the months leading up to the announcement that the catalog could fetch upward of $200 million.
