Microsemi buys Endwave assets

Microsemi_logo-125x100.gifChipmaker Microsemi Corp. (NASDAQ:MSCC) has shelled out $28 million in cash to buy the defense electronics and security business of Endwave Corp. (NASDAQ:ENWV).

The deal provides Microsemi with a range of wireless component products used in defense applications including theaterwide video and voice communications, radar systems, remote sensing and broadband transmission systems. Microsemi is also buying technology used in homeland security applications.

Earlier this month, Microsemi bought a satellite technology unit of Spectrum Microwave Inc. for undisclosed terms. The company's defense-related acquisitions have drawn scrutiny from antitrust regulators. The Department of Justice in December filed suit against the company for its $25 million purchase of Semicoa Inc., a maker of transistors and diodes used in defense applications.
