"I'm in this medium-trendy San Francisco neighborhood,
South of Market, where all the dot-coms live, and I'm going to
visit Twitter headquarters for the first time," announces BoomTown blog creator Kara Swisher from behind the camera in this behind-the-scenes video tour of the microblogging service.
"Folks, so far I can report I see no Google or Microsoft people
wandering around with giant bags of money for these people," quips Swisher, referring to suggestions that Twitter, which has
raised a reported $55 million in venture capital, is a
hot property for acquisition. "And I see
no [Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) VP] Marissa Mayer or [Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT)
senior VP] Yusuf Mehdi hiding in the closet."
If you're hoping for a "60 Minutes"-style ambush video, you'll be disappointed. But if you're curious to see what Twitter Inc. looks and feels like, and you didn't get enough of co-founder Biz Stone when he appeared on Comedy Central's "Colbert Report" earlier this month, you might enjoy coming along on the tour he gives Swisher.
To find out why Swisher brought pie, watch the video below. In another
clip,
she interviews Stone and co-founder Evan Williams, who reiterate that
they're still researching the whole pesky revenue business model thang. -
