Christian Lacroix files for creditor protection

Posted on May 29, 2009 9:31 AM
Christian Lacroix SNC, the storied French fashion house whose pouf dresses became a symbol of 1980s exuberance, has filed for creditor protection. The company blamed the global economic downturn, which has been especially hard on luxury retailers, for its mounting losses.

Lacroix, which Miami fashion company Falic Group owns, said Thursday it had applied to a Paris-based court for protection from creditors. It expects to receive a response next week.
