Drug stores seek review of CVS-Caremark deal

An association representing independent pharmacies has asked the Federal Trade Commission to re-examine the 2007 merger that brought together drug retailer CVS and benefits manager Caremark Corp., saying the new entity used sensitive business information to lure customers from independents.

Representatives of the National Community Pharmacist Association, which has 23,000 member pharmacies, met Wednesday with FTC Chairman Jon Leibowitz to discuss problems they said arose from the $26 billion merger that created CVS Caremark Corp.
