FCC gears up for new fight over media ownership

The Federal Communications Commission is embarking on yet another ambitious effort to rewrite broadcast ownership rules. Never mind that President Obama's choice to run the agency, Julius Genachowski, hasn't even had a nomination hearing.

For now, acting Chairman Michael Copps, a Democrat who has served on the commission since May 2001, is running the agency. Though Copps will soon hand over the chairman's gavel, he's not content to be a caretaker.
