"Entrepreneurs are being a lot more clever in how they can kill off assumptions and risks without having to raise one $1 million," said DreamIt Ventures' Steve Barsh earlier this week while speaking on a panel at FundingPost's "NYC Early-Stage VC & Angel" event.

"I see a lot more capital entering the lower level of the ecosystem probably because... the opportunities for being capital efficient are actually more available now than they were before," said Owen Davis, managing director of NYC Seed.

Also on the panel were early-stage investors Larry Chaityn, the president of Keiretsu Forum NY Tristate; Matt Turck, principal, Bloomberg Ventures; Charlie Federman, angel investor, Crossbar Capital; Kyle Harris, managing director, Liquidity Works Inc., and Amish Jani, managing director, FirstMark Capital.

About 100 entrepreneurs seeking capital attended the day-long event, says FundingPost director Joe Rubin.
