GM Europe bidders face deadline

Posted on May 20, 2009 4:52 PM
Brussels-listed industrial investment company RHJ International SA emerged as a third possible bidder for General Motors Corp.'s European division Wednesday as a deadline approached for formal offers for the company.

RHJI, in which New York private equity shop Ripplewood Holdings LLC no longer has any direct stake, was reportedly expected to put in a bid, alongside long-standing bidders Fiat SpA of Italy and Canadian parts manufacturer Magna International Inc. A GM Europe source said that none of the three had done so by press time Wednesday. Bids were due by noon EST Wednesday.
