AIG's Liddy makes more than $1

LIDDY,-EDWARD-125x100.jpgIsn't it funny that some of those CEOs that told Congress they would work for $1 got perks that far exceed that figure?

American International Group Inc.'s (NYSE:AIG) Edward Liddy is the latest CEO to accept $1 salary for 2008, but he also received $460,411 in perks and benefits, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

Liddy's reported compensation consisted of:

  • $162,686 in financial, tax and legal planning
  • $180,431 in tax-related payments
  • $47,578 for personal use of aircraft
  • $31,348 for a car and driver
  • $38,368 for living expenses.
That's not quite as bad as Citigroup Inc.'s (NYSE:C) CEO Vikram Pandit, who pledged to accept a salary of $1 for 2008 and then received nearly $11 million of compensation for the year. - Maria Woehr
