Agrium: $4.1B offer for CF Industries final (Dealscape

Canadian fertilizer supplier Agrium Inc. has told CF Industries Holdings Inc. that its $4.1 billion hostile offer is final and it will walk away if the bid is not accepted.

Calgary, Alberta-based Agrium last raised its offer for Deerfield, Ill.-based CF Industries on May 11, but the target is holding out, preferring to pursue its own hostile bid for rival fertilizer company Terra Industries Inc. Though it has said it will not raise its offer, Agrium did say in a statement it would extend the deadline to June 22 from June 15.
