The once prestigious blue and white logo of American International Group Inc. (NYSE:AIG) has fallen so far from grace that it has been wiped off employee badges and corporate charge cards.
According to
Bloomberg, after some workers were harassed, the company made new identification cards and tags for employees and collected the old badges and corporate cards with the old logo. The new cards and badges have an image of a globe on them. Talk about rebranding in a rush.
Other strategies the insurer has been using to recast its image include renaming AIG's property/casualty division. The company recently dubbed the division American International Underwriters to distance it from AIG but reportedly has decided the new moniker isn't far enough removed from the old and is considering
changing it again.
The AIG sign was
taken down from the division's Manhattan location back in March, after
some employees got death threats when it became known that bonuses were awarded to employees in the unit that caused AIG's near collapse.
