Areva prepares to sell assets worth up to $7B

French nuclear engineering giant Areva SA is expected to put its transmission and distribution business up for sale to finance new investment, after a board meeting scheduled for Tuesday.

The unit, which operates much of France's electricity grid, could pull in between €3 billion and €5 billion ($4.2 billion and $7 billion), according to analysts. It has already attracted interest from companies including French engineering group Alstom SA.
