Carlyle closes fourth Asia fund

Posted on June 30, 2009 12:27 PM
Private equity firm Carlyle Group announced Tuesday that it raised $1.04 billion for a fund that will target high-growth investments in private companies in China, India, South Korea and other key Asian markets.

Carlyle Asia Growth Partners IV is nearly 50% bigger than the previous Asia growth fund, which closed at $680 million in June 2006. Carlyle said it raised the funds for CAGP IV from a broad geographic range of investors over 14 months. The private equity firm said investor sentiment toward China and India is improving as the two major economies begin to stabilize, and nearly 40% of the new fund's limited partners are new investors.
