Checker Motors heads for new garage

Posted on June 5, 2009 12:47 PM
Taxicab maker Checker Motors Corp. has found a buyer willing to pay a $1.6 million fare for its assets. The former maker of the iconic Checker cab has struck a deal to sell its assets to VRL Inc. and Narmco Group LLC. Both buyers will also fork over an unspecified figure for inventory they're buying.

Lawyers for Checker will head to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Michigan in Grand Rapids on June 9 seeking approval of the transaction, which will be carried out without an auction.
