DOJ extends Oracle-Sun investigation

The Department of Justice has decided it needs more information about Oracle Corp.'s proposed takeover of Sun Microsystems Inc. and is extending its investigation into the $7.4 billion deal.

The Justice Department's 30-day time frame for scrutinizing the acquisition was set to expire Friday. But instead of approving the acquisition, the Justice Department informed Redwood Shores, Calif.-based Oracle that it is extending that deadline.
