Finance Layoffs: Lloyds, GE Capital and more

pinkslips_transparent_125x100.gifFinancial services companies are still doling out the pink slips. The latest rumors and reports of layoffs are at Lloyds Banking Group plc (NYSE:LYG), VTB Group and GE Capital Corp.

  • Lloyds may lay off 2,100 employees. The company will cut about 1,400 jobs in Group Operations and 700 positions in wholesale banking. All of the positions are in the U.K, according to Bloomberg.
  • VTB Group could chop 1,000 jobs at its retail banking operations, according to The Moscow Times.
  • GE Capital laid off 127 employees at a Bedford operation and will continue staff reductions through mid-September, according to The Star Telegram.
It's a tough employment market for financial professionals, but there are jobs as companies are hiring. In fact, Barclays Capital and Bank of America Corp. (NYSE:BAC) are reported to be hiring. Here's our pick of the day from The Deal's Career Channel:
