Posted on June 30, 2009 12:23 PM
After hitting a rocky patch in talks with automotive supplier Magna International Inc., General Motors Corp. may be close to signing a tentative deal with a rival bidder for its Adam Opel GmbH European division, according to a Financial Times report on Tuesday.

RHJ International, a listed division of private equity group Ripplewood Holdings LLC, may soon sign a memorandum of understanding to a buy an undefined stake in Opel, the FT reported, citing an unnamed source.
