Republic's Frontier foray

Republic Airways Holdings Inc.'s bold move to acquire Frontier Airlines Holdings Inc. out of bankruptcy opens up intriguing new opportunities for the regional operator, but also could put the company in the cross hairs of some of its current customers.

Frontier announced late Monday that Republic has made a $108.75 million stalking-horse bid to acquire 100% of the airline out of bankruptcy. Republic is Frontier's debtor-in-possession lender and an unsecured creditor of the Denver-based discount airline.
