Shares of Noven Pharmaceuticals Inc. traded over their value in the newly launched merger with Japan's Hisamitsu Pharmaceutical Co. on speculation that Novartis AG might disrupt the $430 million deal.
Noven and Hisamitsu announced a deal Tuesday, July 14, whereby the Japanese pharmaceutical company would acquire Noven for $16.50 in cash through a tender offer. Hisamitsu is required under the agreement to launch the offer by July 28. The initial expiration date of the offer would be roughly Aug. 24. This is a free content preview.
