So this year's annual "Bulls in the China Shop" summer party -- held by Merrill Lynch & Co. banker Nandi Ahuja -- might have been called the "(Blushing) Bulls in the China Shop," with conspicuous consumption being out of favor nowadays -- but the party still went on nonetheless.
Apparently, Ahuja had doubts about whether or not he should throw the summer party, but decided to go ahead anyway.
DealBook reports that the guest list included 400 attendees from Merrill, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (NYSE:GS), Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) as wells as several European private equity firms.
"Mr. Ahuja said he is happy he went ahead with this year's party, because the atmosphere was as good as the years before. The only difference, he said, was that people drank more champagne than ever."
