pinkslips_transparent_125x100.gifBad news for bankers this Wednesday. The latest rumors and reports of layoffs are at JWM Partners LLC and MetLife Inc. (NYSE:MET), while some other firms are finding alternatives to layoffs.

  • JWM Partners, a hedge fund, is closing its main Relative Value Opportunity II fund, according to Bloomberg.
  • MetLife sales offices have laid off several employees in the New York tristate area. More layoffs will happen at the end of the month, according to Layoff Tracker.
  • Meanwhile, law firm Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP is letting 34 lawyers from the capital markets and real estate finance groups accept a one year sabbatical instead of being laid off, according to Above the Law.

It's a tough employment market for financial professionals, but there are jobs as companies are hiring. In fact, Barclays plc (NYSE:BCS) and Aladdin Capital are just a few companies hiring. Here's our pick of the day from The Deal's Career Channel:

VP, Project Manager in Prime Brokerage Operations at BNP Paribas in New Jersey
