GM gets new feelers for Adam Opel

General Motors Corp. confirmed Wednesday it had received competing bids for its Adam Opel GmbH European unit, but said it was focused on completing a deal with a group led by Magna International Inc.

GM said in a statement it "has received, and is discussing" proposals from both private equity firm RHJ International SA and Chinese automaker Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Corp. The automaker signed a nonexclusive memorandum of understanding with Magna in June, but talks toward a definitive agreement have dragged.
