Lehman author faces lawsuit

  Share     E-Mail    Discussion    Print Story

colossal_failure125x100.jpgFormer Lehman Brothers Inc. trader Lawrence McDonald, the author of "A Colossal Failure of Common Sense," not only has to contend with bad reviews of his book, but also a lawsuit. No, McDonald is not being accused of libel for anything he wrote about his time at the bankrupt investment bank, but rather misappropriating art.

Artist Arturo Di Modica, who created the iconic Wall Street bull gracing Bowling Green in lower Manhattan, is suing McDonald and his publisher Random House, which owns the Crown Business imprint, simply for using a picture of the bull on the cover. Strange how Di Modica never sued defunct Portfolio magazine, which ran a cover with a version of the bull lying dead, or various others for similar practices. - Matthew Wurtzel
