ABA antitrust section taps Wachtell's Gotts

knable-gotts,ilene125x100.jpgM&A lawyer Ilene Knable Gotts, partner at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, Tuesday was named chair of the American Bar Association's antitrust section at the ABA's annual meeting in Chicago. She will serve a one-year term.

Gotts is a well-known competition lawyer, with a focus on international competition. She began her career conducting merger investigations as a staff attorney in the Federal Trade Commission's competition bureau.

Gotts has served as the ABA antitrust section's international officer. Gotts has written and edited more than 100 antitrust-related articles.

She received her law degree from Washington's Georgetown University Law Center in 1984 and as an adjunct professor has taught George Washington University Law School's advanced course in antitrust. - Bill McConnell
