NOT A SUBSCRIBER?NHL, Ice Edge officially enter Coyotes biddingPosted on August 28, 2009 3:30 AM
The National Hockey League has revealed the terms of its last-minute offer to skate off with the bankrupt Phoenix Coyotes. The NHL, one of three bidders to submit an official offer to bankrupt Coyotes owner Dewey Ranch Hockey LLC by a Tuesday court-imposed deadline, has offered $140 million for the struggling franchise.
The bids were filed Wednesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Arizona in Phoenix. The other two offers are a bid of up to $150 million from Ice Edge Holdings LLC and a $212.5 million bid from an entity controlled by Research In Motion Ltd. co-CEO Jim Balsillie. The latter is conditioned on a move of the team to Hamilton, Ontario. This is a free content preview. Subscribers enjoy access to all stories in full as well as second-to-none market intelligence.
