Economists, lawyers back Google on books

Google Inc. has lined up a large contingent of economists and antitrust law professors to support its controversial effort to digitize millions of books.

Google is in federal court in New York to hash out a settlement with the Authors Guild Inc. and other plaintiffs which sued the Internet giant over its efforts to make many books -- both out-of-print and in-print -- digitally available online.
