 Welcome to Deal Stocks. In the news Friday are Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C), Live Nation Inc. (NYSE:LYV), Ticketmaster Entertainment Inc. (NASDAQ:TKTM), Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Co. Ltd., General Motors Co., HSBC Holdings plc (NYSE:HBC) and ING Group NV (NYSE:ING).
Stocks finished in the positive on Friday after Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke spoke about the dollar's strength, according to CNBC. The Dow closed up 71.19, or .73%, to 9,858.06 while the Nasdaq finished up 15.35, or .72%, to 2,139.28.

- Scripps Network Interactive Inc. (NYSE:SNI) shut down its Fine Network Living channel and will rename it The Cooking Channel.
- U.S. regulators may follow the lead of their U.K. counterparts in opposing or adding conditions to the merger of concert promoter Live Nation Inc. (NYSE:LYV) and ticket-selling giant Ticketmaster Entertainment Inc. (NASDAQ:TKTM).
- China's Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Co. Ltd. may finalize a deal to buy General Motors Co.'s Hummer business for about $150 million on Friday, a source told Reuters.
- The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. is questioning the positive conclusions given to Citigroup Inc.'s (NYSE:C) management team in a government-mandated review in the aftermath of the financial crisis, The Wall Street Journal said. Citi also sold Phibro LLC energy trading business to avert a showdown over a potential $100 million payout to the chief of the unit.
- A second Singapore bank has challenged HSBC Holdings plc (NYSE:HBC) in the bidding for ING Group NV's (NYSE:ING) private banking operations in Asia, the Dutch financial daily Het Financieele Dagblad reported, citing unidentified sources, according to DealBook.
- Though the dust has settled on Ciena Corp.'s (NASDAQ:CIEN) announcement Wednesday that it has tentatively agreed to buy certain optical networking assets from bankrupt Nortel Networks Corp., its stock price hasn't.
- The fact that American International Group Inc. (NYSE:AIG) failed to pay the U.S. Treasury a dividend for the government's Troubled Asset Relief Program investment likely is not a shocker. Nor is the fact that most of the other 34 institutions that opted to not pay dividends to Treasury for its TARP's Capital Purchase Program investments when you consider the fact that 98 banks have already failed this year.
- The auction of BusinessWeek has reportedly been narrowed down to two finalists, Bloomberg LP and private equity firm Zelnick Media, which reportedly has enlisted the assistance of Thomson Reuters. Should McGraw-Hill Cos. (NYSE:MHP) name Bloomberg the winner, the future doesn't look bright for the staff of the 80-year-old magazine.
- McAfee Inc. (NYSE:MFE) and Verizon Business are teaming to develop products to secure information passing through the cloud. And what is the cloud? Well, for one, it's the "tech buzzword du jour," according to Olaf de Senerpont Domis, who attempts to demystify cloud computing in the current issue of The Deal magazine.
- Indian IT services giant Infosys Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ:INFY) is looking to acquire companies with revenues of about $400 million, and as demand picks up, it is pursuing 12 to 15 outsourcing deals on the back of nine deals it sealed in the past two quarters.
