Cisco to buy ScanSafe

In its third deal announcement in the past month, Cisco Systems Inc. said Tuesday it would buy privately held security software company ScanSafe for about $183 million to expand into Web-based security.

ScanSafe makes network-based security software for businesses looking to manage data connections between offices and workers. Investment banker brothers Eldar and Roy Tuvey founded the San Francisco- and London-based company in 1999.
