Germany vulnerable as neighbors slam Magna-Opel

Germany may be left holding the bag for a €4.5 billion ($6.7 billion) loan guarantee for Adam Opel GmbH as criticism increases among its European neighbors of Berlin's involvement in the proposed sale of the Rüsselsheim, Germany, carmaker to Magna International Inc. and Sberbank.

In a letter to German Economy Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, Spanish Industry Minister Miguel Sebastián said he would boycott a Friday meeting between Magna and governments where Opel has activities, according to the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung.
