Posted on November 10, 2009 10:00 AM
Google Inc. announced Monday, Nov. 9, that it had agreed to acquire San Mateo, Calif., mobile advertising company AdMob Inc. for $750 million in stock. The deal gives Google, whose Android software is increasingly used to power smartphones, a boost in monetizing mobile Internet traffic.

"Mobile advertising has enormous potential as a marketing medium and while this industry is still in the early stages of development, AdMob has already made exceptional progress in a very short time," said Google vice president of product management Susan Wojcicki in a statement.
