KKR, General Atlantic snare Northrop Grumman unit

Taking advantage of a rejuvenated private equity market, defense contractor Northrop Grumman Corp. on Monday announced a $1.65 billion deal to sell its Tasc consulting unit to General Atlantic LLC and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.

The deal is the latest in a string of recent buyouts. On Nov. 5, TPG Capital and an affiliate of the Canada Pension Plan announced the largest private equity transaction of the year so far, a $4 billion purchase of IMS Health Inc.
