NHL wins the faceoff in Phoenix Coyotes battle

The National Hockey League has been given its shot to keep the Phoenix Coyotes in the desert. Judge Redfield Baum of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Arizona in Phoenix on Monday approved a deal that hands the Coyotes to the NHL for $140 million.

Now the claims of the NHL and the city of Glendale, Ariz. -- that a buyer is on tap to keep the team in Arizona -- will be put to the test. The Coyotes play in the Jobing.com Arena in Glendale.
