stanford_allen_125x100.jpgThat's right. Today in investment fraud, Sir Allen Stanford, who allegedly perpetrated a $7 billion Ponzi scheme, is to be stripped of his knighthood. According to FT Alphaville, the National Honour's Committee has sent a request to Antigua's governor general who just needs to sign the document for the deed to be done.

Today too, Madoff's longtime accountant, David Friehling, pleaded guilty to nine different counts, including charges of fraud, filing false statements with the Securities and Exchange Commission and three counts of obstructing tax laws.

Even though Friehling entered the guilty pleas, he maintains he didn't know about the fraud. Authorities have not accused Friehling of being in on the fraud, but for not providing "meaningful audit" over the years.

Friehling is free on bail. - Sara Behunek
