Barclays reconsiders the status of its PE arm

British bank Barclays plc is reportedly reviewing the status of its private equity arm and considering a possible buyout. According to both The Times and Mail on Sunday, this could leave its investment banking arm Barclays Capital with about 40% of the equity and 60% in the hands of its management. International markets were mixed Thursday. Japan's Nikkei 225 Average was up 54.71 points, or 0.6%, at 8667.23 as investors hope the Bank of Japan will follow the U.S. Federal Reserve's lowering of interest rates.
