Johann Rupert buys two Lehman PE funds

The investment fund of South African billionaire Johann Rupert, Reinet Investments, has scooped up two private equity funds from Lehman Brother Holdings Inc.'s Merchant Banking division. The two funds -- Lehman Brothers Merchant Banking Partners IV LP and Lehman Brothers Merchant Banking Partners IV (Europe) LP -- have already invested $800 million in portfolio companies and have commitments by limited partners to call up another $1.7 billion. Additionally, as part of the deal, Reinet agreed to inject as much as $230 million into the funds over a three-and-a-half-year period. ...
