CME Group Inc. -- which runs the world's largest derivatives exchange commonly referred to simply as the Merc, unless you're from Chicago where it's known as "da Merc" -- may announce as early as next week a deal to buy rival exchange Nymex Holdings Inc. for cash and stock worth about $9.5 billion, according to a Thursday Wall Street Journal report.
