Tata nears finish line in race for Ford's luxe brands

After months of negotiations and several false reports that an announcement was imminent, India's Tata Motors Ltd. finally appears ready to announce a definitive agreement to buy the Land Rover and Jaguar brands from Ford Motor Co. Ford put the luxury brands on the block last summer in hopes of raising cash to fund a restructuring of its North American operations. The Dearborn, Mich.-based automaker named Tata as preferred bidder in January, but talks have bogged down in the months since over issues including pension funding and security for the brands' U.K.-based work force....
