Oil companies are raking in cash like never before, but executives and industry representatives act as though their very existence is threatened. The New York Times Wednesday reported that industry officials are mounting a public relations campaign to counter the rising tide of ill will in Congress and out in the real world toward the petroleum producers. But it isn’t clear exactly what they are afraid of.
