IBM buys venture-backed Transitive

transitive.jpgIBM Corp. [IBM] is buying Transitive Corp., a venture backed company that makes virtualization technology that helps software applications run on multiple platforms. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Transitive's backers include Accel Apartners, Pond Ventures and Crescendo Ventures. It received an $11.5 million Series C round in 2004 led by Accel. -- Andrea Orr
