WPP in for Spot Runner?

  Share     E-Mail    Discussion    Print Story

London advertising agency WPP Group plc, which is aggressively expanding in the U.S. is close to acquiring a digital advertising firm. WPP CEO Martin Sorrell hinted as much to Bloomberg earlier this week, leading to speculation in the New York Post today that the target could be Spot Runner Inc., an Internet firm that helps local and small businesses produce television ads. WPP participated in a $40 million round of funding in Spot Runner last October, so presumably it knows what it would be getting. In May, WPP agreed to pay $649 million for online advertising firm 24/7 Real Media Inc. —David Shabelman
