AOL aggregates Socialthing!

  Share     E-Mail    Discussion    Print Story

socialthing.jpgLooking to build on its acquisition in March of social networking site Bebo Inc., AOL LLC has snapped up Socialthing! Inc., a social media aggregation tool that lets users track their online social communities and broadcast updates to them. At least that's what this blog post indicates. It also says the Socialthing! platform, which is currently in beta, is integrated with 13 sites, including such well-known names like Facebook, Twitter, Digg and Flickr.

Socialthing! raised $300,000 in seed funding from EonBusiness back in 2007, but looks like it also may have raised some money from TechStars and got advice from Foundry Group's Jason Mendelson, based on this post.

Good luck to all involved, though we ask AOL to lose the silly exclamation point at the end of Socialthing! At least there's a semiplausible reason why Yahoo! Inc. [YHOO] uses it. - David Shabelman
