blip.jpgOnline television network Blip Networks Inc., operator of blip.tv, on Tuesday announced it has closed its second round of funding. Despite persistent inquiries, we can't tell you how much the company raised, though we do know that Bain Capital Ventures led the round.

Blip.tv is a video sharing site focused on everything from scripted sitcoms and dramas to citizen journalism and reality shows, all produced by independent content creators. The company said it served more than 51 million video views in September, a more than 250% increase over September 2007. The site was aided by the release of Michael Moore's "Slacker Uprising" documentary, which follows Moore on a tour of swing states during the 2004 general election.

Bain's Jeffrey Glass (who also declined to disclose the amount of money raised) said he was excited about Blip's prospects and praised the company for "enabling content producers to leverage the distribution and revenue opportunities on the Internet."

Blip.tv, which hosts Tech Confidential's Behind the Money online video show among many others, last year raised a Series B (amount undisclosed) led by Ambient Sound Investments, the VC fund established by the four founding engineers of Skype Technologies SA. -- David Shabelman
