The company is CollegeWikis, a group messaging and information platform for college students by college students. HighBAR Ventures led the round, with participation from Richmond Management, eCoast Angel Network and Boston Harbor Angels.
Much like Wikipedia, CollegeWiki is an information resource that provides relevant topics for students ranging from local info to admissions, jobs, courses and events. Some of its topics include "How to survive freshman year," "The best restaurants in Palo Alto" and "Hottest iPhone apps." Though the site is a collaborative effort among college students, the company emphasizes that it is not a social network, probably to help separate itself from Facebook -- David Shabelman
