Just days after announcing a new $500 million commitment to a second
China Technology Fund, Intel Capital confirmed it will put $12 million into a unit of Shanghai Media Group to develop an online television service in the country.

reports that Intel Corp.'s venture arm will collaborate with Shanghai Media Group Broad Band to develop the Internet TV platform. The deal deepens a relationship that first started two years ago when the chipmaker
announced at the annual Consumer Electronics Show that SMG would work with Intel's Viiv technology to make it easier for people to download, view, manage and share digital entertainment on devices such as portable media players, digital TVs and routers.
Intel's China fund had previously announced investments in broadband media technology developers Holdfast Online Technology Co. and Newauto Video Technology Inc., in addition to a number of information technology and telecommunications deals.
