A technology development consortium founded by Intel Corp., Microsoft Corp. and the Russian National Commonwealth of Business Angels will hold a field business session next month, the first of three promised for 2008, reports the C-News Russian IT Review, with eight Russian start-ups presenting to potential investors.

Intel and Microsoft are positioned as strategic investors to the alliance, which includes funds such as Allianz ROSNO Asset Management, the ABRT Venture Fund, Oradell Capital, and Moscow Agency for the Development of Entrepreneurship. Intel's regional director Dimitry Konash says the company has invested in five Russian companies and has several projects under consideration. Microsoft's head of Russian programs estimates there are about a million Russians with the background for software development. - Clifford Carlsen
