Mobile ad provider Transpera lands VC round

  Share     E-Mail    Discussion    Print Story

With cell phones now such a large part of our lives and doing much more than just serving as a device to make a phone call, advertisers are doubling their efforts to get their messages to our mobile devices. Transpera Inc., a company that claims to be "the first comprehensive platform to monetize Web video and mobile phones," on Thursday said it completed an $8.25 million Series B round of funding. The round was led by previous investor Flybridge Capital Partners and included new investor Labrador Ventures, along with the company's other previous investors, Intel Capital and First Round Capital. The new round of funds, which includes debt financing from Silicon Valley Bank, will help the company expand its product line and service customers.

Founded in 2007, Transpera earlier this month announced deals to deploy mobile video services and advertising for MTV Networks, Discovery Communications and the Travel Channel, and will help Ford launch the advertising campaign for its 2009 Lincoln MKS. --David Shabelman
