Jeff Jordan, president of eBay Inc.’s lucrative PayPal division until his resignation last July, will join the online restaurant reservation service OpenTable Inc. as chief executive June 4. He replaces Thomas Layton, who has been in charge of the company for six years and spearheaded the search for a new leader. Layton will stay on the company's board but considers himself a “serial entrepreneur” who prefers working at new startups, according to the San Mateo Daily Journal. Meanwhile, Jordan's mandate is to take OpenTable to the next level, now that it is seating 2 million diners a month and has signed up 7,000 restaurants for its service. Little has been said about OpenTable's financial performance. In an interview with VentureBeat, Jordan continued the reticence, declining to say whether the company is near profitability.Mary Kathleen Flynn
