Kleiner leads Sequoia as most searched VC firm

  Share     E-Mail    Discussion    Print Story
Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers holds a slight lead over Sequoia Capital as the most searched for venture capital firm on Google. Data from Google Trends displayed below shows the search queries for the two firms since 2004.

Interest in Kleiner Perkins spiked following the hirings of Bill Joy in January 2005 and Colin Powell in June 2005. Since then, interest in both firms has drifted downward except for an occassional rise fomented by the occasional new investment or fund closing announcement.

Not suprisingly, most search queries for the two top-tier venture capital firms are conducted by users in the San Francisco Bay Area. The other main areas of interest are the largest American cities. No other venture firms were searched enough for on Google to appear on Google Trends.
