Intel gets on the Baidu wagon with partner AdsIt

baidu.gifChinese search engine leader Baidu has reportedly made a $4 million to $6 million venture investment in key online partner AdsIt, alongside U.S. venture investors Intel Capital and hedge fund Farallon Capital.

The venture arm of Intel Corp. continues to invest in China strategically, avoiding some of the pitfalls financial investors sometimes experience in the country by focusing on partnering with companies that can expand demand for the chipmaker's products.

In supporting Baidu's exclusive video advertising partner, Intel is keeping a hand in core multimedia technology development in the fast-growing company. With Baidu maintaining a lead on Google Inc.'s efforts to grow in China, AdsIt's partnership with Baidu has the company in a leading role to sell online video ads to the hundreds of video-sharing sites that have been formed in China, according to China Web 2.0. - Clifford Carlsen
